This year marks Land Rover’s 70th anniversary, and April 30th was chosen as the day to officially mark the occasion. Fans of the brand affectionately dubbed it World Land Rover Day and used the hashtag #LandRover70Years on social media to raise awareness. In honor of the unofficial holiday, the company live-streamed on YouTube from its Jaguar Land Rover Classic Facility in the U.K. and showed off a number of Land Rover products – as well as the people who helped create them – honoring seven decades of adventure.

In addition to the live stream, Land Rover is also working on restoring one of the three novel cars from Amsterdam in celebration of the brand’s anniversary. In 2016, the model was rediscovered in a garden in Birmingham, U.K. after disappearing for over 60 years. The utility vehicle established the iconic look of Land Rover vehicles and, as a result, is regarded as the brand’s most historically significant model.

To top off the exciting celebration, Land Rover has also announced that there will be a debut a new Land Rover Defender this year. The new model is said to rest on the same aluminum construction as the Range Rover Sport. It should also feature numerous refinements in its handling, ride quality, interior finish, and safety.

Land Rover has sold more than 7 million vehicles since its launch, speaking volumes of its legacy. We’re thrilled to have celebrated the birthday of one of Britain’s most iconic and innovative brands and will continue to celebrate all year long.
